Dear Member,
The NJC Consultative Ballot is now underway and GMB encourages those in Local Government and Schools to vote and have their say on pay. GMB recommend that members reject this pay offer, but it is up to you. Please see further information below:
- Who does this offer apply to?
It applies to all staff on NJC Green Book Conditions who work in Local Government and Schools (and Academies who follow the NJC).
- When is the increase effective from?
Any increase will be backdated to 1st April 2021 and will apply to anyone who has started since then.
- What is GMB’s position on the offer?
GMBs National Local Government and Schools Committees Representatives are recommending you reject this pay offer as it is only a 0.25% increase on the initial offer of 1.5%, which was unanimously rejected by the Joint Trade Unions. Staff morale within Local Government and Schools is at an all-time low, and it is not acceptable to continue expecting our members to do more for less.
GMB believes now is the time for pay justice.
- What is the schedule for the consultation?
In GMB all members have a say on their pay. GMB London Regions’ pay ballot opened on Monday 23rd August 2021 and will close Monday 4th October midday.
- What will happen if GMB members reject the pay offer?
If the ballot result is rejection of the offer by the majority of GMB members and the other recognised unions, then a consultative or formal ballot for industrial action will be considered.
Q. I’m not a member, can I vote?
No. Only GMB members can take part in the consultative ballot. But you can join today and make sure you have your say on your pay.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IS UP TO YOU. MAKE SURE YOU VOTE AND HAVE YOUR SAY ON YOUR PAY
